2 bodies found in house razed to the ground by explosion in Missouri

Two bodies were found in the rubble of a house in Missouri that was razed to the ground by an explosion early Friday morning. The bodies are believed to be those of the house’s residents.

The explosion was so powerful that it ripped open doors in neighboring homes and was felt for miles. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, nothing was left standing in the house after the explosion.

Just before 5 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a call from a neighbor reporting the explosion. They then received calls from other neighbors and residents who had heard the explosion.

“Arriving at the scene and not seeing any sign of a house – just debris scattered everywhere – is shocking,” said Sarah Boyd, spokeswoman for the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

“It’s especially hard knowing that at 4:30 a.m. there’s probably someone sleeping inside. Our officers have never seen anything like this,” Boyd said.
